About Us

Welcome to our Ohana!
We borrowed the word Ohana from the Hawaiian culture since it had such a beautiful meaning. Ohana in the Hawaiian culture means family, not only blood related, but it includes friends, neighbors, etc. Our goal here at Ohana is just that. Ohana Preschool is a place where students can be themselves and feel loved, accepted and respected by each other.
The teachers here at Ohana are all patient, dedicated and kind and have had years of experience working with children of all different ages. The reason why Ohana Preschool started was because we believe that all children deserve a safe and comfortable place to learn, develop and explore.
At Ohana Preschool, we bring the comforts of home into a classroom setting to help children transfer more smoothly into kindergarten. Every day, we will have a mixture of songs, academics, as well as, play and exploration. Through singing, playing, learning and exploring, children will be able to mature developmentally in the most important aspects of their life: socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively. Here at Ohana Preschool, we also believe that it is important to keep a low student to teacher ratio so that the teachers can give more attention to each student to help and encourage them to be the best they can be.
Ohana is designed as a Preschool for ages 5months to 5 years as well as an after school care. It is designed to be this way due to:
1. Convenience for parents with different aged children
2. Stimulation and sparking interest for the younger children when they see interactions among the older children.
3. Helping older children mature in a different way. They are able to develop responsibility, empathy, communication skills, leadership skills and much more.
We often encourage the older kids to help and teach the younger children some of the things they are learning. There have been many studies that show that teaching is the best way to learn! In order to teach them, they need to understand the skills they are teaching, and while teaching, they will develop confidence in that area.
